Honey as a beauty product

By Olga Davydova

Posted 15 July, 2007 in Beauty

Honey is a great component for beauty products, it’s one of the best natural moisturizers, and it tastes awesome too.

Here are a few tips for homemade honey based beauty products (please make sure you’re not allergic before using these products and consult your doctor if you are not sure, because I’m not responsible for the outcome, these are just tips, not recommendations):

  • Honey moisturizing facial mask for dry skin: take 4 oz of honey, 2 egg yolks, 4 oz of vegetable oil, heat the ingredients a bit and blend them thoroughly, apply the mask, rinse off with warm water, reapply every 5 minutes and rinse off again.
  • Honey and eggs facial mask for oily skin: take two egg whites, 3/8 cup of honey, 1/2 teaspoon of almond oil, 2 tablespoons of oatmeal powder, mix everything, add oatmeal, apply the mask, hold for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with warm and later cool water.

Here are some products with honey that you can buy:

Cute Food: Ice cream for dogs

Dog with ice cream

Attention posh pooch owners! If you enjoy ice cream why does your dog need to be deprived? Today is Ice Cream Day so give your pets a treat.

  • Frosty Paws makes frozen treats for dogs in two flavors: original (I can only guess what it tastes like) and peanut butter.
  • Polar Pups offers tastes closer to what you would find at your local ‘human’ ice cream parlor: banana, apple, berry and again peanut butter.
  • FrostBite Doggie Ice Cream is the first brand of organic ice cream for dogs. They offer sundaes for our four legged friends, complete with dog friendly toppings. FrostBite say that their ice cream can even heal dogs. They’ve got the richest variety of flavors: bone crunch, vanilla, peanut butter, peanut butter and bananas, peanut butter+bananas+mint, jalapeno peppers and cheese, vanilla and liver, salmon, chocolate chip and even a secret “power” ice cream based on Chinese herbal medicine, as well as sugar free and lactose free types.
  • Alternatively you can make your own doggie ice cream from vanilla yogurt, mashed bananas and honey, just follow this quick and easy recipe by RecipesGoldMine.com

Cute Food: 6 most uncommon ice cream flavors from all over the world

By Olga Davydova

Posted 15 July, 2007 in Wacky Food

Today, July the 15th is Ice Cream Day! We’ve collected the most uncommon (if not wacky) ice cream flavors from all over the world that you can actually try (if you dare).

  1. British beer ice cream - makers say it mostly tastes of caramel with a bit of beer flavor. Contains less than 1% of alcohol. Via the BBC
  2. American cucumber and dill sorbet - make it yourself. The recipe also contains sour cream, chicken broth (or a substitute), salt, lemon juice and even pepper. Via Better Homes and Gardens
  3. Japanese fish ice cream - an absolutely incomprehensible flavor. Just the thought of eating it makes me shudder, however in Japan it exists in many flavors. How about a scoop of shrimp ice cream with eel topping? Via Tomcoyner (and the Wall Street Journal)
  4. Japanese wasabi ice cream - Japan has the largest variety of unusual ice cream flavors in the world so I’ve added another one to this list. As you may know, wasabi is the very hot green horseradish paste served with sushi that makes people cry over their food. The ice cream apparently has vanilla taste with the unmistakable wasabi sting. Via MSN-Mainichi
  5. Italian parmesan ice cream - almost everyone loves Italian food. “People who prefer having a refreshing ice cream instead of a meal in the intense summer heat can now do so without giving up the traditional flavours,” reports Food & Drink Europe
  6. Persian noodles and rose water ice cream - also known as Faludeh, a Persian sorbet made of thin vermicelli noodles frozen with rose water, grated pistachios and several other ingredients. Faludeh is probably the most ancient flavor of ice cream. Via Wikipedia
