Bunnies are kawaii. Bunnies with pancakes on their heads are super kawaii.

By Olga Davydova

Posted 22 October, 2007 in Cute Beat

This post was written by Fashionably Cute’s contributing editor Wendy Brandes, an awesome jewelry designer (of Gigi Caron and Wendy Brandes Jewelry), journalist, blogger and fashion warrior on a never ending quest for scary fish shaped shoes.

A million Internet years ago, in 2001, I was addicted to the cuteness that was Hironori Akutagawa’s bunny site. Oolong the bunny had a special talent: the ability to balance things on his head.

Korean Teddy Bear Museum

By Olga Davydova

Posted 18 October, 2007 in Gallery of Artists, Cute Beat

Russian Livejournal user dkphoto has visited Jeju Teddy Bear Museum in South Korea and took a bunch of photos of the museum’s treasures. Here are the links to his photo stories: 1, 2, 3, you don’t have to know Russian to be able to admire the beauty of the pictures.

The best part of the exhibition is the “Role of Teddy Bears in World Art”, pretty impressive versions of famous masterpieces, or rather a chance to see how they would have looked if teddy bears ruled the world. So kawaii! Here are several most recognizable paintings and sculptures.

Please welcome Fashionably Cute’s new contributing editor Wendy Brandes, who is an awesome jewelry designer (of Gigi Caron and Wendy Brandes Jewelry), journalist and blogger with a great sense of humour and a big passion for all things kawaii. This is the first guest post by her for Fashionably Cute, and I really hope our collaboration continues.

Banana Door Stopper

Posted 15 October, 2007 in Lifestyle

Throw this banana peel under the door and don’t be afraid of slipping on it. It’s designed by, you guessed it, a Japanese artist, for keeping your doors open. Buy the yellow one (ripe) or the green one (unripe).

Mal Sirrah Spring/Summer 2008

By Olga Davydova

Posted 9 October, 2007 in Fashion

Our friend and one of the web’s best fashion bloggers Malcolm Harris of the sizzling hot Cut, Sew & Blog, also known as the stellar fashion designer and philanthropist Mal Sirrah, has presented his Spring/Summer 2008 collection in an innovative way: entirely online, narrated by the fabulous personality and stylist Andre J, wearing one of Malcolm’s divine creations.

What’s more, this is a conceptual collection:

Mal Sirrah’s conceptual collection is based on the “one style fits all theory”. This concept was originally sparked after designer and muse, Nina Clemente (daughter of famed artist Francesco Clemente) began discussing the over saturation of “product” within the fashion industry. They both felt as if there were so many choices to pick from these days that most women simply felt overwhelmed and frustrated. Therefore, the designer set out to design the perfect dress for his muse and eventually dubbed the result - “The Nina”

Congratulations to Malcolm on the success, the fabulous designs and presentation! His dresses are beautiful, delicate and feminine. Diane Von Furstenberg has expressed her opinion about The Nina dress, according to Mal Sirrah’s blog:

…she [Diane Von Furstenberg] believed he had found his own personal version of her legendary “wrap dress”. She believed the dress possessed all the key elements that flattered all body types across the board.

I just think it’s incredibly cute.

Here’s a sneak peek at the fabulous collection and Mal Sirrah’s new house model Julia K., who has recently been the featured girl on Models.com

Click here to view the entire collection online at the Cut, Sew & Blog or watch it on YouTube.

More kawaii from Wendy Brandes

By Olga Davydova

Posted 8 October, 2007 in Food Fun, Inspiration

Fashionably Cute’s friend, tremendous jewelry designer and scary fish shaped shoe lover Wendy Brandes has revealed herself as a huge kawaii fan. She has demonstrated a great ability of finding adorable stuff online, so I’m even going to offer her the ultra-prestigious position of contributing editor at Fashionably Cute! Just look at her recent discoveries:

Hamster pizza

Farm animal shaped cookies

Wendy has also designed a cute baby wolf necklace.

Well, of course, this necklace is supposed to look like a grown-up fang shaped wolf, but due to my kawaii loving nature I’d like to think it’s a tiny puppy swaddled in a blanket, such as this (even though it’s a baby wombat)…

…or this:

Christian Louboutin smiling fish shoes

By Olga Davydova

Posted 4 October, 2007 in Scary Shoes

Fashionably Cute’s dear friend and awesome jewelry designer Wendy Brandes is obsessed with these stunning fish shoes by Christian Louboutin.

They are indeed impressive, but I wonder what’s so attractive about them? Maybe their hot shade of green? Or the charming smile adorning the wearer’s toes? Anyway, Wendy likes them so much that she has even embarked on a much more mind boggling quest for a pair of Louboutins than Link for Princess Zelda! The problem is that they don’t sell these spectacular peeptoes in her size.

On her quest she fights trolls, golems and leather-clad, chain-wielding skeletons with flaming skulls finds all kinds of irrelevant information, but not a single pair of her dream heels.

However, I’ve found a much more luxurious pair of shoes, made of all natural materials and possessing almost the same characteristics as Christian Louboutin carp peeptoes, sans the heels. It’s Little Mice Valenki. Highly recommended!
