About the Mascot

Everyone knows Hello Kitty, the cute little cat is the probably the world’s most famous kawaii character featured on all kinds of stuff, from stationery to apparel. There are other successful character brands in greeting cards, giftware, stationery: Me To You Teddy, Hallmark’s Forever Friends, Japanese characters by San-X, and many more.

However, I have a feeling this segment of the market still lacks something very important, especially it lacks a Luxury Character, a cute character that could be used exclusively on luxury goods. At Moscow State Linguistic University I was majoring in Journalism, Foreign Languages, PR and Branding. My graduation thesis was about Brand Development. So I’ve decided to introduce my own kawaii character brand. It’s a tiny baby bird, called Sweet Angel Bird.

The character is created entirely by me: the concept, the artwork, everything. The idea first came to me in September 2003, while I was in Vienna with my mom. The final draft of the character was completed on the 1st of April 2007 in Moscow. All the long months between these two dates were spent on the development of the character’s appearance, concept and marketing plans.
Here’s the basic concept:
Sweet Angel Bird is literally “the Key to the Very Best of Luck”. She is a magical creature that has a a flame of candle fire on her head. If she gets adopted, loved and well cared for she brings the very best of luck to the owner. Then the flame on the head opens revealing the ornate key to the very best of luck.
The Luxury Character will appear on all kinds of luxury merchandise. I’m going to begin with a luxury jewelry line and develop the brand in many different directions.
