One of Fashionably Cute’s best blog friends and top commenters is Wendy Brandes. She is an awesome jewelry designer with a unique style. Currently she designs fine jewelry under the name Gigi Caron, but is soon to relaunch under her own name.

Some of her pieces are just very cute, like the strawberry above and the apple below.

Some are inspired by famous historical jewelry, like this Borgia Ring.

The original ring was owned by Lucretia Borgia, who was the daughter of a pope and a member of the powerful and influential Borgia family. The ring had a hidden compartment where she kept poison for her enemies. Wendy’s ring has this compartment too. Poison sold separately.

By the way, Wendy’s Borgia Ring was among the items that Britney Spears sort of borrowed from the set of an OK! photoshoot and later wore while frolicking in the pool with her assistant.

• These are nice looking pieces. My husband has been a jeweler for years and the pendants remind me of some of his work. He works with a lot of fresh water pearls that are common to our area along the Tennessee river. Interesting bit about the secret compartment in the ring!
